Vadodara Police nab key ‘conspirator’ of gangster murder from Ratlam

A week after the notorious gangster Mukesh Harjani was shot dead by unidentified assailants in Vadodara, Detection of Crime Branch (DCB) and Vadodara police have arrested alleged prime suspect and key conspirator Anil Gangwani alias ‘Anthony’ from Madhya Pradesh. Police also said that Gangwani had hired two sharp shooters to bump off Harjani and himself fired several rounds at the gangster.

Acting on a tip-off from sources, one of the multiple investigation squads of Vadodara DCB arrested Gangwani from Ratlam in Madhya Pradesh on Thursday, where he was hiding after the incident, police said.

City Commissioner of Police Manoj Sashidhar said, “After receiving the the tip-off from sources, the investigation squad of Vadodara DCB nabbed Gangwani from Jaora area of Ratlam in Madhya Pradesh. Further investigation is under way in Vadodara and neighbouring states.”

According to the police, Gangwani revealed during his interrogation that he along with Kalpesh Patel alias ‘Kachiyo’ (Harjani’s former associate and co-accused in 2009 murder of BJP corporator Alpesh Chako), Viju Udhwani, Sanjay Dave were not happy with the Harjani over his control on illegal liquor and other extortion businesses.
