Four persons were killed and 15 were severely injured when a tempo in which they were travelling turned turtle near Jepura village of the Savli taluka in Vadodara district. The accident occurred around 1 am on Thursday night. The deceased have been identified as Gordhan Nayak (30), Pratap Nayak (40), Dilip Nayak (25) and Mahesh Nayak.
According to Savli police, the tempo was carrying around 32 people, who were coming from Jambughoda town of the Panchmahals district and the driver lost the control near Jepura. Three persons were killed on the spot. One person died at Sir Sayjirao General (SSG) Hospital where he was admitted soon after the accident. Fifteen who sustain injuries have been admitted to general hospitalat Halol.
“The tempo was carrying around 32 passengers, mostly from Jambughoda, who were on their way to Rajkot. We have booked the driver and and have started the probe to nab him,” said a police officer.
Police have booked the driver under Section 279 (rash driving or riding on a public way), 337 (causing hurt by act endangering life), 338 (causing grievous hurt by act endangering life) of the IPC and under Sections 177, 184, 134 of the Motor Vehicle Act.
