Two suspended for MNREGA malpractices

Two persons associated with a MNREGA project in Narmada district were suspended following complaints of malpractices in the project related to digging of over 30 wells in Umarva village of Nandod taluka for which payment was sanctioned in financial year 2012-13.

Two persons associated with a MNREGA project in Narmada district were suspended following complaints of malpractices in the project related to digging of over 30 wells in Umarva village of Nandod taluka for which payment was sanctioned in financial year 2012-13.

Villagers had complained to the district authorities that the project was half-complete and that JCB machine was used to dig a few wells that deprived them of their daily guaranteed job.

District development officer S Chhhakchhuak said officials visited the site and found malpractices. She said a probe has been ordered.
