Special Operations Group picks up the duo from Sama area with 400 gm of brown sugar
The Special Operations Group (SOG) of Vadodara police has detained two youths on suspicion of carrying brown sugar. The police had picked up the duo on Wednesday night with 400 grams of white powder, suspected to be brown sugar.
The SOG sent the samples of the substance to the Forensic Science Laboratory,Gandhinagar for test on Friday.
According to the SOG,one of the youths,Naseer Taji Khan,is from western Uttar Pradesh, while the other person,Imran Ali,is from Vadodara and works in a garage in the Sama locality.
We picked these persons with the powdery substance from the Sama area during a routine checking. As we suspect it to be brown sugar,
we have sent it to the Gandhinagar FSL, said an SOG officer.
Sources in the SOG,meanwhile, said that if the tests on the seized substance turned out to be positive,it could be the biggest brown sugar bust in the region in recent times.
“If the substance is brown sugar,it could be worth Rs 40 lakh in the international market,” added the officer.
According to the SOG,the inflow of drugs to Vadodara has increased considerably in the last six months,as there are newer and bigger entrants in this illegal market. “With these checks,we plan to keep a tab on the drug inflow to the city and that it has become a sort of transit point,” said SOG Sub Inspector Alsika
