Traffic cop assaulted by three

Yet another case of traffic police personnel being beaten up by locals was registered at the Karanj police station on Wednesday.

Yet another case of traffic police personnel being beaten up by locals was registered at the Karanj police station on Wednesday.

Three men in a car beat up Constable Shafique Ahmed Siraj of the Naroda police station when he tried to stop them from jumping the red light. He has suffered serious injuries on the face and body.

Inspector K S Avani,posted at the Karanj police station,said,“Three men were driving the Honda City car (GJ1 8J590) when Siraj stopped them for jumping the red light.”

He added: “The angry men jumped out of the car and showered the constable with heavy blows. By the time others could rush to his help,the three had already escaped from the spot.”

The Karanj police are on the lookout for these men.

Earlier too on Tuesday,a police constable had been beaten up by the son of the owner of an apparel shop in Satellite area.

Inspector J J Patel posted at the Satellite police station said,“The boy was stopped for talking on the phone while driving. Not only did he argue with the constable but also assaulted him. He has been arrested.”
