A trader was wounded when some unidentified persons shot at him in front of his shop in heavily crowded Majurgam area of Ahmedabad.

He was opening his electrical shop and performing his daily rituals to begin business for the day, when the incident took place.

The assailants had allegedly come to kill one of of the labourers working at his shop and called out to him. However, they ended up pulling the trigger on Parikh when he tried to flee.

The bullet grazed the side of Nikunj Mahendra Parikh’s face, leading to a gashing wound near one of his eyes. The bullet then hit the shutter of the shop.

On hearing the shots and Parikh’s cry for help, panic hit the streets of the busy market place. The police rushed to the spot and found a wounded Parikh lying on the road. He was rushed to the hospital for treatment. The police said the assailants had used an air gun so the bullet injury was not too serious. The police have registered a case of firing and assault and begun further investigation.
