Trader gets ‘ransom call’ from old partner

The owner of a city-based travel agency on Wednesday alleged that his old business partner is allegedly trying to extort Rs 10 crore from him.

The owner of a city-based travel agency on Wednesday alleged that his old business partner is allegedly trying to extort Rs 10 crore from him.

The owner of Patel travels,Meghji Khaitani,alerted police that he received a call for ransom money of Rs 10 crore from one Bijal Bharwad. Khaitani claimed that the caller also threatened to kill him if the ransom was not paid.

However,later it was found out that Bharwad called Khaitani on the instructions of his old business partner Rajesh Patel,police said.

The police have lodged a case of threat to life against Patel and begun further investigations.
