Student dies during NCC selection trials

A college student died of suspected heart attack during the selection trials of the National Cadet Corps in Bhavnagar on Monday.

A college student died of suspected heart attack during the selection trials of the National Cadet Corps in Bhavnagar on Monday.

The incident took place at around 7:15 am when Shilpa Parmar (18) was running on the ground of Samaldas Arts College as part of the selection trials. “The girl fell down while running the third lap of the ground. She was taken to a hospital,but the doctors could not save her,” Durlabhji Korat,the vice-chancellor of Maharaja Krishnakumarsinhji Bhavnagar University,told The Indian Express over phone.

A Division Police of Bhavnagar said that Shilpa was rushed to Sir Takhtasinhji General Hospital,and she died during treatment at around 7:30 pm. “Doctors said that prima facie it seems the girl died of cardiac arrest. However,the real cause of her death will be known only after we get the post-mortem report,” said an officer of A Division Police.
