Police made no headway in the case of the alleged stoning to death of a man on the outskirts of the city even as many teams were formed on Friday to probe the case.

Vallabh Rangani (63) had left his home near Guruprasad Chowk in the city for his routine morning walk early on Thursday. But he was found dead on Pal road near Mavdi later in the morning.

His head was smashed with some blunt object and police had recovered a blood-stained stone near his body. “Post-mortem report has confirmed that Rangani died due to head injuries. But we have not achieved any breakthrough in the probe. We have formed different teams to look at the incident from all angles,” said  SOG PI Dadubha Basiya who is also in-charge of Taluka Police.
