STF officer visits encounter spot in Valsad district

Deputy SP Usha Rada,who is the investigating officer of the STF appointed by the Supreme Court to probe the encounters in Gujarat,on Saturday visited the spot by the side of Umargam Bhilad road in Valsad district where Sanjay Singh Choudhary,an alleged gangster from UP,was killed in an encounter in October 2004.

Deputy SP Usha Rada,who is the investigating officer of the STF appointed by the Supreme Court to probe the encounters in Gujarat,on Saturday visited the spot by the side of Umargam Bhilad road in Valsad district where Sanjay Singh Choudhary,an alleged gangster from UP,was killed in an encounter in October 2004.

While the encounter team was led by K G Erda,then an inspector with Valsad police,Abhay Chudasama was the district SP at that time. Chudasama is currently lodged in Sabarmati Central Jail in connection with the Sohrabuddin encounter case.

Choudhary was allegedly involved in abduction and murder a Vapi-based businessman’s son.

During her visit to the spot,Rada was accompanied by Erda,who has since retired. A total of five encounter killings had taken place in Valsad district during 2002-2006.
