AHMEDABAD: A godman from UP will camp in Ahmedabad to lead a yagna by Brahmins “to enhance the growth and prosperity of Gujarat”. Swami Prakhar Maharaj from Haridwar told mediapersons on Thursday that the Mahayagya is scheduled to be held from November 20 to 28. He said he had invited Chief Minister and BJP’s PM candidate Narendra Modi to participate. The bhoomi poojan for the “Dhan Varsha Laxmi Mahayagya” will be held at Vastrapur here. “It will be done on October 27 at the mahayagya site. It will be supervised by Laxmi Kant Dixit from Varanasi,” said Prakhar Maharaj. Nearly 500 Brahmins from all over the country are expected to participate. ens

PILs against AES dismissed with cost

AHMEDABAD: The HC on Thursday dismissed a set of three PILs moved against Ahmedabad Education Society,while holding that the petitions were not bona fide,and imposed exemplary cost of Rs 25,000 on each petition to be deposited with the Gujarat High Court Legal Services Authority within a week.

The PILs were moved by Tushar Patel and another person with a contention that the AES had planned to sell off its three pieces of land,located in different parts of Ahmedabad for residential purpose. The petitions had challenged the sale of land for residential purposes,while contending that the society was for education and therefore its land could not have been sold off for residential purpose. ens
