On the first day of general discussion on budget on Tuesday,Assembly Speaker Vajubhai Vala asked print media journalists covering the Assembly session not to report any remarks made in the House during any debate that were removed from the record.

Earlier,when Congress MLA Balwantsinh Rajput rose to represent the case of visual media that was disallowed by the Speaker’s office from bringing camera equipment inside the Assembly building,Vala cut him short saying there could be no discussion in the House on this matter. Quoting rules,he said it was the Speaker’s prerogative to allow cameras in the House or not.

Appropriation bill passed

gandhinagar: The state Assembly on Tuesday passed the Appropriation (Supplementary) Bill for 2013 that authorises the state government to spend public funds for specific purposes.

After discussion on it by four members,Finance Minister Nitin Patel urged the Speaker to put the Bill to vote after which it was passed by a majority vote. While speaking on the Bill,Gujarat Parivartan Party (GPP) chief raised the issue of alleged financial irregularity in the spending on the Sadbhavana fasts.
