Axit Shah,a student of Shree Vidyanagar High School and son of a newspaper and magazine vendor, made his father proud once again on Monday when he scored 99 percentile in Class XII non-medical examinations.

“He made me proud two years back when he scored 92 per cent in Class X,and once again today,” Axit’s father Jayesh said, while hugging his son and fighting tears. Jayesh runs a newspaper and magazine shop at Sola. Axit, who wants to become a civil engineer, draws his inspiration from his father. “My family is very supportive, especially my father who had always pushed me to do my best,” he said.

Another family that was elated was of Tanha Shah,a student of Nirman High School who secured 99.99 percentile in non-medical examinations.

Tanha’s parents, brother and sister-in-law are chartered accountants, but she chose science.

“I want to become an aeronautical engineer,” she said. “She had an interest in mathematics from the beginning and we never forced her to choose any profession. She is the only one in the family with science subjects. It is entirely her decision,” Ankit, her brother, said.
