Six killed in Sangadh road accident

Six people,including four women and a five-year-old girl,died on Wednesday while 14 others were injured when a truck in which they were travelling turned turtle near Ozar village in Songadh taluka of Tapi district in South Gujarat,the police said.

Six people,including four women and a five-year-old girl,died on Wednesday while 14 others were injured when a truck in which they were travelling turned turtle near Ozar village in Songadh taluka of Tapi district in South Gujarat,the police said.

“Four woman,a five-year-old girl and a 50-year-old man died today,while 14 others were injured when the truck in which they were travelling overturned after the driver lost control because he was talking on his cellphone,” Songadh police Sub-Inspector K S Motawar said.

Ozar village is 20 km from Songadh taluka,in the Tapi district of south Gujarat.

Hailing from Dhulia district of Maharashtra,the victims were returning to their native state after a day’s work at a sugar factory in Bardoli with their possessions,he said.

Police identified the deceased as Mali Suryavanshi (50),Anita Naik (5),Vimal Naik (35),Hatu Naik (48),Sodaliya Naik (50) and Alka Naik (30).

The injured have been admitted to Songadh General Hospital and a private hospital in Vyara.

Investigators said that the driver,who also suffered some minor injuries,fled the spot soon after the accident.

A complaint has been filed by Okharam Malushare,one of the injured victims,against the driver,the police said.
