Among the larger family settlement to the Last Will and Testament of Shrimant Rajmata Shantadevi Gaekwad dated February 18,1992 and in the two codicils dated March 31,2002 and April 1 2002,the two warring parties of the royal family of Vadodara have divided their riches in various proportions. All parties have granted Probate to the disputed Will,including Sangramsinh and his family,who had challenged the authenticity of the Will. As per the MoU (a copy of which is with The Indian Express),Sangramsinh gets the 1/3rd undivided share of Shantadevi at Flowermead at Malabar Hill in Mumbai.
Motibaug Palace wihin Laxmi Vilas Palace has been transferred to Shubhanginiraje Gaekwad. All other movable and immovable properties go to Samarjitsinh. These include the Laxmi Vilas Palace,Rajmahal ground,exhibition ground,rooms at race course,land at cremation ground,Tulsiwadi Talao,Shikhari Chowkiat Timbi,buildings at Kapurai and 88 acres of land thats part of the Laxmi Vilas Palace grounds.
Sangramsinh gets 350 equity shares of Gaekwad Investments Corporation Private Limited as well as 8,037 equity shares of the Baroda Rayon Corporation. About 8.2 acres of Baroda House and about 6.12 acres of Sirmur House have been shared by Samarjitsinh and Sangramsinh equally. The two parties have agreed to have equal share of any alternate property provided by the government at the end of the litigation that the family is involved in with the Government of India over the possession of the property.
Surat builder among royals facilitators
Vadodara: The MoU,which has brought an end to the long-drawn Gaekwad saga for the over Rs 10,000 crore property,had many mediators. Among them was a builder from Surat called Damodardas Kachhi. A facilitator,Kachhi did the follow-ups on behalf of Sangramsinh and Pratapsinh during the distribution of the property. ENS
