Gujarat Technological Universitys board of governors on Thursday approved a budget of Rs 80 crore for 2012-13 for the varsity.
Vice-Chancellor Akshay Aggarwal said Rs 50 crore was for conducting examinations and the remaining Rs 30 crore for three research laboratories for post-graduate and Ph D students in pharmaceuticals and mobile telephony.
Aggarwal said that while colleges have facilities up to 2G level in mobile telephony,they dont have arrangements for 4G level and beyond like long term evaluation(LTE) in mobile technology. He said these laboratories could help the colleges in pursuing research for their PG and research students.
BoG also approved the appointment of a full-fledged registrar,controller of examination and chief accounts officer.
GTU set up in 2009 has only the V-C as a full-time employee.
