Staff murder: Oil firm manager gets four-day police custody in Ahmedabad

Gandhi was picked up by police from his residence in the city Thursday and was arrested later in the evening after hours of questioning.

A LOCAL COURT Friday sentenced Rajmoti Industries manager Samir Gandhi to four-day police custody in connection with the alleged murder of Dinesh Daxini. Police officers said that a team was camping in Ahmedabad to arrest an ASI who is one of the co-accused in the case. Gandhi was picked up by police from his residence in the city Thursday and was arrested later in the evening after hours of questioning. He was produced in court late Friday evening. Granting remand application submitted by investigators, the court sent Gandhi to police custody till Tuesday.

Daxini was employed as manager of an oil depot of Rajmoti Industries in Ahmedabad. In his complaint filed with B Division police, Dixni’s brother-in-law Ashok Thakkar has named Gandhi, Rajmoti Industries owner Samir Shah, police sub-inspector MC Maru and assistant sub-inspector Yogesh Bhatt as accused. Assistant commissioner of police (east zone), Banno Joshi is investigating the case. City police commissioner Anupam Singh Gehlot said that attempts were on to arrest Bhatt.
