In an effort to make its services more accessible to city residents, Rajkot Municipal Corporation (RMC) launched its updated Android-based mobile application. Now, one can pay charges and book halls using the app. The civic body had launched its first app in 2014. This app had eight features, including taxes and levies, registration of complaints and their status, details of birth, death and marriage certificates and shop licences. The updated version has 17 features. Noticeably, it has interface to make payment of professional tax, property tax and water charges through mobile phones. Additionally, now community halls run by RMC can be booked through this application.
“With this updated app, we are slowly but steadily moving towards a system in which people will not have to stand in queues for paying taxes or seeking forms. The app will also reduce our manpower demand. Our objective is to develop a system where people can access services round the clock,” Rajkot Municipal Commissioner Vijay Nehra said. Sanjay Gohil, in-charge director of information and technology department of RMC, said that the app had been developed in-house without any additional financial implication. The app can be downloaded free from Google Playstore. Those who’ve downloaded the previous version can update it, he added.
