Rajkot man dies a week after assault,6 booked for murder

THE man who was assaulted a week ago in the city and hospitalised succumbed to injuries on Sunday night even as police booked six persons for murder in connection with the incident.

THE man who was assaulted a week ago in the city and hospitalised succumbed to injuries on Sunday night even as police booked six persons for murder in connection with the incident. Devedndragiri Goswami (22),a resident of Indiranagar in Devpara area,died in the private hospital in the city where he was undergoing treatment,Bhaktingar police said on Monday.

Goswami was allegedly attacked by six men with swords and knives while he was passing on Sahakar road on the night of last Tuesday and had sustained grievous injuries.

Goswami’s father Bharatgiri had named Ajay Boricha,Vijay Boricha and four others as accused in his complaint and police had booked all of them for attempt to murder. After Goswami’s death on Sunday,however,the police added Section 302 (murder) of the Indian Penal Code in the case. “We have now booked all six for murder. Presently,they are on the run and efforts are on to nab them,” Bhaktinagar police inspector B B Zala said.
