Highway robbers intercepted jewellers of Rajkot city near Wondh village on National Highway 8A in Bhachau taluka of Kutch and allegedly ran away with 2.5 kg gold ornaments worth Rs72 lakh late on Thursday.
Kutch east police said that Harshad Adesara, his brother Mathur and cousin brother Arun were on their way back to Rajkot from Gandhidham town of Kutch when they encountered the robbers. The jewellers were coming back home after selling gold ornaments in Gandhidham, Adipur and Anjar when they were robbed by four men in a car.
“The robbers were stalking the jewellers and finally caught them near Wondh. After the attack, the robbers fled away in their car which did not bear any vehicle registration number,” Bhachau police inspector Vishnudan Gadhvi said Friday.
The injured jewellers were rushed to Vagad Hospital in Bhachau and police were informed. “Harshad and Mathur have sustained head injuries. The robbers also fractured right leg of Mathur,” Gadhvi said.
