Rajkot gears up for Rahul visit on Friday

Congress leaders in the city held a series of meetings on Wednesday to host party vice-president Rahul Gandhi and executive of Gujarat unit of Congress on Friday.

Congress leaders in the city held a series of meetings on Wednesday to host party vice-president Rahul Gandhi and executive of Gujarat unit of Congress on Friday.

Rajkot MP Kunvarji Bavalia and chairman of Maldhari Cell of Gujarat,V V Rabari,held meetings with Rajkot city Congress president Jaswantsinh Bhatti,state Congress general secretary Kashmira Nathwani and Congress MLA from Rajkot East constituency,Indranil Rajyaguru.

“The Congress vice-president will hold separate meetings with party leaders from each district of Saurashtra-Kutch and north Gujarat. The leaders would include elected leaders in local bodies and office bearers of the party,” Bavalia said.

Rahul is expected to land at Rajkot airport at around 9.30 am. He would be welcomed at Kisanpara Chowk,Kotech Chowk and on Kalavad Road by Congress workers. The series of meeting would be held at Nil City Club,a resort owned by MLA Rajyaguru.

“The vice-president would urge party leaders to spread awareness about Food Security Bill and Land Acquisition Bill among public in their respective area. The executive meeting is likely to deal with the strengthening of party organisation in view of the 2014 general elections,” Bavalia further said.

Incidentally,Rahul will be in Ahmedabad on Thursday for similar meetings.
