Rajkot: Caterer sent to judicial custody for ‘raping’ helper

The duo were produced in a local court later on Friday evening. The court sent them to judicial custody as police did not seek their remand.

A city-based caterer and his friend were sent to judicial custody by a local court on Friday after the duo were arrested for allegedly raping a Mumbai woman whom he had hired as a worker.

Sikandar Mir, a Kalavad Road resident who runs a catering business and his friend Jignesh Ghavri (21) were detained by Surendranagar police and later handed over Rajkot city police on Thursday.

Rajkot Taluka police had formally arrested the duo at 11:30 pm on Thursday in connection with a rape complaint registered against them by a 23-year-old woman.

The duo were produced in a local court later on Friday evening. The court sent them to judicial custody as police did not seek their remand.
