While the Rath yatra was winding its way through Ahmedabad on July 10,the BJP had a low-key opening of its new headquarters a few kilometres away. A few top leaders, minus Narendra Modi, performed a Vastupooja at the under-construction site of the state head quarters at Koba in Gandhinagar. The pooja was performed by state BJP president R C Faldu and his wife in the presence of Anandiben Patel,Purshottam Rupala,V Satish,Surendra Patel,Nitin Patel and others.

However,“Shri Kamalam”,the new head quarters are not likely to become functional in the near future. Sources say the 2014 Lok Sabha elections will be fought from the present head quarters in Khanpur, which is considered lucky for the BJP,at least for Modi.

Passing the Parcel

After the disclosure that IPS officer Satish Verma tried influencing the CBI to accept his ‘draft charge sheet’ on the Ishrat Jahan investigations, the cold war between Verma and CBI has grown ‘colder’. The CBI even said Verma allegedly ‘leaked’ his own draft in the media assuming this would be a part of the final chargesheet.

However, when things did not go as planned,Verma’s draft was claimed to be a piece of ‘misinformation’ by the investigators. The CBI chargesheet submitted on July 3 turned out to be very different from what Verma concluded based on statements of few police officers implicating Chief Minister Narendra Modi, former MoS Home Amit Shah and former SIT member Mohan Jha. The CBI director, who approved the CBI’s chargesheet, had also refused to accept Verma’s draft. The draft now remains with Verma but battle lines have been drawn with CBI.

Just Tweet it!

Looks like CM Modi’s IT team no more believes in calling for ‘Brand Ambassadors for Gujarat’ as advertised on his website. Instead they are on a lookout for avid tweeters, who are keen to tweet about Modi. A visit to his website reveals two icons: ‘Create,Build,Share your Experience of Gujarat on Facebook’ and ‘Be Gujarat’s Brand Ambassador’ that are now defunct. One click leads to a bandaged thumbs-up sign saying the ‘page is unavailable’.

A new feature, however,is Modi’s rants on Congress and his daily itinerary clubbed under the section called ‘News!’. Every sentence ends with an icon to help the reader share the news post on social media websites. With this tweeting frenzy by Modi’s IT team,is it any wonder why ‘Shri Modi’ is ‘virtually’ all over social media?

Stancert Who?

“Metro Link Express for Gandhinagar & Ahmedabad (MEGA) Company Ltd’s capabilities have been recognised by Stancert Assessors (P) LTD with the ISO 9001:2008 certification for planning, design & construction of metro rail project,” said an official release last week. “MEGA’s commitment to quality processes and systems has been given a huge boost by it being certified,” it added.

Interestingly,Stancert Assessors is a Baroda-based “international group” located off Old Padra Road and is accredited by Dubai Accreditation Department. However, the website of the firm provides little clue about the background of the firm and the people managing it. Officials from the firm too gave out nothing regarding the firm despite a telephone call and an email being sent.
