A squabble over Rs 1,000 resulted in a murder in a village near Sutrapada town in Junagadh district on Saturday.

A squabble over Rs 1,000 resulted in a murder in a village near Sutrapada town in Junagadh district on Saturday.

According to the Sutrapada police,Vinubhai Shah,58,a resident of Dhamlej village was allegedly killed by Naja Koli,a resident of the same town. After killing Shah,Koli fled the scene. However,the police swung into action and arrested him on Sunday.

According to police sources,Koli had approached Shah and demanded Rs 1,000 from him. Shah had reportedly borrowed the money from one Manuben,a resident of the same village. This resulted in a heated verbal exchange between the two. Later,Koli injured Shah by striking his head against a wall. As Shah became unconscious,Koli fled from the place.

When the police learnt about the incident,they rushed to the spot and took Shah to the Veraval Civil Hospital,where he was declared dead.

According to the post-mortem report,Shah died because of his head injury.

The victim’s cousin Rajnikant Shah has lodged a complaint with the Sutrapada police in this regard. The police have registered the complaint of murder under Section 302 of the IPC.

According to sources,Shah lived alone in his house.

“Koli has admitted to have committed the crime and will be produced before the court on Monday,” said the police.
