The election officials in Surat raided a school in Udhna area of the city on Friday after getting a tip-off that Gujarat Parivartan Party (GPP) workers were distributing membership forms among students and parents on the premises. The officials seized several forms. They also took statements of schoolteachers,principal,trustees and parents who were present on the spot and started investigation.
An unidentified caller reportedly informed district election office that the party workers were distributing membership forms in Sungrace School in Udhna area in the evening.
In another incident,an unidentified caller informed the officials that GPP party leader Dalsukh Chovatia was distributing Diwali festival wishes cards in the residential societies at Sitanagar Chokdi in Punagam area of the city. The cards reportedly contain photographs of Keshubhai Patel,Gordhan Zadaphia and Chovatia. Later,the officials seized some cards from residents of the society and took statements of Chovatia.
