Policeman’s son fires at wife in Jamnagar

No arrest or detention were made in this connection till afternoon.

Son of a police constable allegedly fired at and injured his wife in Shantinagar area of Jamangar city late on Monday night. The injured woman has been rushed to a private hospital in Rajkot for treatment.

B Division police of Jamnagar city said the incident took place at around 11 pm on Monday when Mayursinh Jadeja opened fire on his wife Shilpaba (28) from a pistol.

“Jadeja fired one round from a private weapon and the bullet hit his wife in thigh. The victim has been admitted to a private hospital in Rajkot for treatment and her condition is reported to be out of danger,” B Division police inspector CN Parmar said.

Police said Mayursinh is son of Ghanshyamsinh Jadeja, a head constable posted at Jodiya police station in Jamnagar district. Police further said that Mayursinh was working with a private shipping company and that the couple had got married just a couple of weeks back.

Parmar added that a team of policemen had been sent to the Rajkot hospital for registering a complaint in this regard. No arrest or detention were made in this connection till afternoon.
