Parts of Gujarat likely to get rain,thundershowers today

Temperatures across the state remained around 40°C due to cloud cover and westerly winds on Tuesday as the local Meteorology Department forecast light rain or thundershowers on Wednesday in south Gujarat and Saurashtra and the adjoining Union Territories of Diu,Daman,Dadra and Nagar Haveli.

North Gujarat region and Kutch district would continue to be covered by clouds,the officials said.

Ahmedabad on Tuesday recorded a maximum temperature of 40°C with Gandhinagar experiencing 38°C. Maximum temperatures in Vadodara reached 39°C.

In Saurashtra,Rajkot recorded a maximum temperature of 40°C while Bhuj in Kutch recorded 39°C. Amreli and Kandla were the hottest urban centres on Tuesday with maximum temperature of 41°C each.

Humidity dropped in Okha and Dwarka at 74 per cent while Kandla,Rajkot and Bhavnagar experienced a fresh breeze of about 33 km per hour.
