Over 100 women meet Guv over food security Bill

More than 100 women from 10 districts met Governor Kamla Beniwal at her official residence in Gandhinagar on Tuesday demanding the implementation of the food security Bill and to stop malnutrition.

More than 100 women from 10 districts met Governor Kamla Beniwal at her official residence in Gandhinagar on Tuesday demanding the implementation of the food security Bill and to stop malnutrition. Organisers said they would write to all political parties to include the issue in their party manifestos for the upcoming state Assembly elections.

This is the third time social workers have mobilised deprived communities to demand rights to food an end to malnutrition in just the past month; last week,a consortium led by St Xavier’s Behavioural Science Centre had written to all political parties,demanding 50 kgs of grains and cereals and a litre of edible oil under the Public Distribution System and a universalisation of such benefits.

The Governor promised she would forward their basic demand of right to food to all concerned government departments,said organiser of the programme from the Right to Food Security Abhiyan.
