NRI woman killed by servant at farm house

An alleged tiff over the drinking habit of her servant led to the murder of an NRI woman in a farm house in Padra town on Thursday.

An alleged tiff over the drinking habit of her servant led to the murder of an NRI woman in a farm house in Padra town on Thursday. The police have verified the photographs of the accused and his family and are on a lookout for them.

The victim was identified as Payal Soni (30),wife of Tapan Soni. The couple were settled in the US and Payal had come on a vacation a month ago. The accused were identified as Paresh Patel,his wife and two sons,all residents of Godhra.

“The Sonis had employed Paresh and his family as servants for the upkeep of their farmhouse a month ago. Payal had earlier scolded Paresh over the latter’s drinking habit and made him sign an apology. This morning,they again had an argument that led to a scuffle in which Payal was killed,” Padra police inspector Y R Belim said.

Payal died of serious injuries caused by sharp weapons,the officer said. Padra sarpanch Vinod Parmar informed the police that a woman was lying dead in the farm house.

The Sonis have a home on Bhayali road in Vadodara and the farm house in Padra.

Based on a complaint by Payal’s father Jitendra Mehta,police have filed a case of murder against Paresh and his family.
