Goods worth Rs 10 lakh were gutted as a moving truck on which it was loaded caught fire on the National Highway 59 near Limkheda in Dahod district on Sunday. The truck driver escaped unhurt.
The truck was loaded with clothes,footwear,utensil and other goods and was on its way from Ahmedabad to Indore in Madhya Pradesh. When the truck was passing near Limkheda,the goods caught fire.
The goods caught fire due to some short-circuit and the fire engulfed the entire vehicle. However,the driver stopped the truck and escaped from his cabin, Limkheda police said.
Fire fighters from Dahod rushed to the spot and doused the flames after an hour-long operation. Due to the fire on the road,the traffic on the National Highway was disrupted for two hours,police said.
The driver has been identified as Govindsingh Rajput,a resident of Indor. In his complaint filed with Limkheda police,Rajput stated that goods worth Rs 10 lakh was burnt in the incident while his truck had sustained damage to the tune of Rs 5 lakh.
Limkheda police have registered a non-cognisable offence and started investigation.
