Mob sets car ablaze after accident,four injured

Four persons,including a senior citizen,were severely injured when a speeding car hit them in Thaltej on Wednesday night. later,a mob set the car on fire,police said.

Four persons,including a senior citizen,were severely injured when a speeding car hit them in Thaltej on Wednesday night. later,a mob set the car on fire,police said.

According to reports,the driver,identified as Nirav Mehta (27),lost control of his car near a turning at Bhaikakanagar in Thaltej area and hit a group of people sitting on a bench near the road.

Four people have sustain injures and they have been admitted to Sola Civil Hospital in critical condition,police said.

There were two persons in the car,believed to be students,who were thrashed by the angry residents before they were taken to the police station.

Sola Police Sub-Inspector Pritesh Patel said the mob set the car on fire after the police took the driver at the police station. The mob also pelted stones at the fire brigade team who were called to douse the fire in the car.

According to additional chief fire officer Rajesh Bhatt,when a team of fire brigade went to the spot,the locals pelted stones. A police team resorted to lathicharge to disperse the crowd. He further said that two of his staffs sustained minor injuries.
