MJP merges with GPP; ex-ministers,MPs join party

Gujarat Parivartan Party (GPP) president Keshubhai Patel on Wednesday announced the induction of former ministers Prabodhkant Pandya and Jaspal Singh as also former MPs Ramjibhai Mavani,his wife Ramaben Mavani and A K Patel in his newly formed party.

All these,excepting Patel,were present at the press conference where Keshubhai announced their induction. Keshubhai said A K Patel could not come but had told him announce that he would join GPP.

MahaGujarat Janata Party (MJP) president Gordhan Zadaphia also officially announced merger of his party in GPP. He said he and other office-bearers of MJP had resigned from the party and joined GPP and 2.5 lakh members of MJP would also join GPP.

Asked how he would raise funds to fight elections against BJP and the Congress,Keshubhai said it would be done through donations.

Asked if GPP would have any electoral alliances with NCP or Samajwadi Party,Zadaphia replied in the negative.

Regarding support for GPP from Team Anna,Zadaphia said he was in touch with Baba Ramdev and Kejriwal. “If they want to cooperate with us on the issue of corruption and on the appointment of Lokpal in the state,they are most welcome,” he said. Zadaphia said he was searching for a suitable place for the offices of the new party.
