On the occasion of Mother’s Day on Sunday, several women who have lost their children staged a demonstration and requested the state government and police to find and bring their children back.

Gathered under the banner of Search My Child, the parents of missing children have decided to stage another demonstration on Tuesday, this time at the residence of Chief Minister Narendra Modi.

“After we lost our daughter eight months ago,we visited police station four times in a month. I request to the government and police to take some quick action and bring my daughter back,” said Bhagwati Vaishnavi, mother of 18-year-old Deepal.

“Our son went missing from the deaf and mute school in 2008. Since then we have search across Gujarat and Maharashtra but we couldn’t find him,” said Leela Shirsale, mother of 18 year-old Atul.

‘Search My Child’ is part of a three-month old initiative to help people find their children who have gone missing and they are tired of requesting to the government and police.

“The main purpose of this campaign is to provide police and legal help to parents who have lost their children. Our helpline number will help such parents who are tired of running from pillar to post after filing an FIR,” said Sanjay Joshi, human rights activist.
