Minority representatives call on Modi,urge not to ignore their interests

The representatives hailing from Navsari,Surat,Bharuch and Ahmedabad took up various issues pertaining to the Muslims in the state.

Minority community representatives led by businessman Zafar Sareshwala Wednesday called on Chief Minister Narendra Modi and urged him to ensure that the interests of the Muslims were not ignored.

The representatives hailing from Navsari,Surat,Bharuch and Ahmedabad took up various issues pertaining to the Muslims in the state.

Surat-based religious leader Maulana Mohammed Ali Maniar appealed Modi to ensure that poorest of the poor in the country felt that he belonged to this great country if he became prime minister in 2014.”

“The greatest test of your success as prime minister would be when each one of 120 crore of the people,including poorest of the poor,feels himself dignified,” he told Modi.

Representatives of the Teen Darwaza Pathara (footpath vendors) Association requested the CM to ensure that they were not removed from the footpaths when the Ahmedabad Municipal Corporation implements its developmental plan for the area.

Sareshwala’s wife Asiya reportedly asked Modi about his ideas regarding uplift of Muslims in the event of his becoming prime minister. Modi reportedly replied that when he talked about 100 per cent enrolment of children in schools,it included Muslims as well”

“I am busy uniting the cent percent population of the society around the process of development,irrespective of their caste and community,with a view to make each one of them partners of progress,which alone could absolve the nation from the poisonous cycle of vote bank politics,” he told the minority representatives. Asiya also presented a painting to Modi.

The group also included Maulana Asad of Dabhel Darul Uloom near Navsari,BJP leader Asifa Khan,consulting engineer Qamrunnisa,besides Eric Sethna and Parvez Nariman,both Parsis. However,there was no one from the Christian community.
