A Congress MLA on Thursday accused Education Minister Raman Vora of threatening him in the Assembly canteen and wrote to Speaker Ganpat Vasava requesting him to ensure that the minister was booked for criminal intimidation since the incident took place inside the House.

According to Kuvarji Hadpati,Congress MLA from Bardoli, his son Urvesh had told him that five students were copying in Class 12th board examination at the centre where he too was taking his exam. Hadpati claimed he called up the school teacher concerned and asked him to ensure proper vigilance to check use unfair means.

On Thursday,Hadpati claimed,Vora confronted him in the Assembly canteen during the recess in the Assembly and showed him newspaper clippings that said the MLA’s son was caught using unfair means in the exams. The MLA claimed the minister asked him to leave the Assembly premises or face consequences.

Vora denied the allegations. “The MLA’s son was caught copying in exam and the district education officer reported the matter to me. He is just trying to create ruckus to save his face, but we will act as per law. If the Speaker asks me,I will place all the records in the House.”
