The much-awaited “country’s first mini-golf course”,announced during the 2012 Kankaria Carnival in the city,has turned out to be a four-feet wide AstroTurf — laid between concrete partitions — that winds its way around plants,stone sculptures,pillars and ‘Jharokhas’ in an area of 2,600 sq m at the Kankaria Lake Front in the eastern part of the city. The official release by the Ahmedabad Municipal Corporation,which executed this project with private partnership,claims,“About 100 people can play at a time!” This course,built under the public-private-partnership model at an estimated cost of Rs 3.5 crore,will be inaugurated by Chief Minister Narendra Modi on Thursday evening. The project has been implemented by Ahmedabad-based Sky Wanderers Pvt Ltd.
