The daughter of a senior IPS officer was allegedly attacked at her house in Ahmedabad late on Saturday night by a masked man. Police said the 17-year-old girl was alone at home at the time and escaped with minor injuries. The police have recovered a plastic bag which, police say, may have been used as mask.
She lodged a complaint with Gujarat University police station on Sunday morning, stating that an unidentified person wearing mask attacked her. She was alone in the house at Samarpan tower as her mother was at her native place while her father is on central deputation outside state. Samarpan Tower is IPS officers’ quarters, considered to be a high security zone, located at Gulbai Tekra area, which falls under Gujarat University police station.
The FIR states that the last person who came to her house was an orderly of a senior IPS officer who lives next door around 9 pm to “borrow curd”. According to the FIR, the victim closed the door herself before retiring to bed around 12:30 am. She had left the night lamp on. According to the FIR, she was woken up at around 1 am after she felt that there was someone in the house.

The FIR states that she was attacked by the unidentified assailant who tried to throttle her. It says that a scuffle broke out and the attacker ran away from the house from the main door. There were no CCTV cameras installled at the residential tower, he said.
“The Gujarat University police station is looking into the complaint. We are investigating it thoroughly,” said Ahmedabad police commissioner A K Singh.
Gujarat University police officials said that following the complaint, they recorded statements of the liftman and several personnel from the State Reserve Police Force who are deployed at the tower for security. “No one saw anything on that night. We are still clueless,” they said.
