Man suffers cardiac arrest in court,suspended cop rescues him

A Witness in a criminal case,who had come from Pune to get his statement recorded,suffered a severe cardiac arrest in the compound of the Ahmedabad City Civil and Sessions Court on Wednesday.

A Witness in a criminal case,who had come from Pune to get his statement recorded,suffered a severe cardiac arrest in the compound of the Ahmedabad City Civil and Sessions Court on Wednesday.

His life was saved,as suspended DySP Dr Narendra Amin,who also happens to be a qualified gynaecologist,was present there in connection with some other case and prescribed an emergency tablet— Sorbitrate.

The tablet was available with one of the court staffers. It helped the patient survive the attack. He was subsequently shifted to the VS Hospital in an ambulance.

The person has been identified as Prakash Sharma. His lawyer,Gulabkhan Pathan,said: “He had come to Ahmedabad to record his statement in the court. His daughter had committed suicide at her in-laws’ house in Ahmedabad owing to alleged harassment by her in-laws. Following that,Sharma had lodged a complaint of abetment of suicide against them.”

Chief Public Prosecutor Sudhir Brahmbhatt,who was present at the spot where Sharma had collapsed,said: “Amin asked me to get Sorbitrate tablet at the earliest. Fortunately,one of the court staff members,Ahmed Hussain Saiyed,had five such tablets with him.”

Amin is an accused in the Sohrabuddin Shaikh fake encounter case and the subsequent murder of his wife,Kausar Bi.
