A man allegedly clubbed his sister to death after a minor tiff over a tape-recorder in Ishwaria village of Kutiyana taluka in Porbarndar district late on Thursday night, police said.

Jitu Makwana, who hails originally from Dhulia district of Maharashtra and works in limestone mines in Ishwaria, allegedly hit his elder sister Vasanti Padvi (40) in head with a stick and killed her on the spot around 10:30 pm on Thursday.

Kutiyana police said Makwana assaulted his sister when she went to his hut and demanded back the tape-recorder which her husband had lent him. However, this infuriated Makwana and he attacked Vasanti.

Police said the victim used to live with her husband Ramesh Padvi, also a resident of Dhulia district, and the family had been working in quarries for last one and half months. Ramesh was at some distance when Vasant came under attack. “After attacking his sister,Makwana managed to run away. Efforts are on to arrest him,” Kutiyana Police SI R T Vyas said.

On the basis of a complaint filed by Ramesh,Kutiyana police have booked Makwana for murder and started investigation.
