Man ‘kills’ mother over pension money

The city police arrested a man for allegedly killing his 80-year-old mother at his resident in Ahmedabad on Sunday morning over pension money of his parents,police said.

The city police arrested a man for allegedly killing his 80-year-old mother at his resident in Ahmedabad on Sunday morning over pension money of his parents,police said.

Victim Praveena Chandrkant Kothari was died due to multiple stab injuries in her chest and stomach. Her son,Parag Kothari (45) fought with Praveena for several hours all the night before killing her in the morning. Parag’s father Chandrkanth,who was the witness of the incident called police. The incident happened at B 417 at Jantanagar area of the city.

According to reports,Parag was demanding the pension money of his father from last two years,however,his mother Praveena was against it. This had led to a long battle between mother and son.

The Chandkheda police said,as per his father Chandrakant’s statements,Parag wanted to stay alone with his second wife after grabbing their property and even the pension money. His second marriage was leading to lot of family disputes in the house.

According to police,Parag was also threatening of disowning his parents if they did not hand over all the pension amount they have been saving for their security. On Saturday night,the mother and son began a fight. When his mother refused to give the savings,Parag took the kitchen knife and stabbed her multiple times.

The police have registered a case of murder against him under Section 302 of the Indian Penal Code and begun further probe.
