A special court on Saturday sent suspended deputy superintendent of police N K Amin to CBI custody till April 12 in connection with the Ishrat Jahan encounter case.
The court also directed CBI to ensure proper medical care for Amin,if he needs it.
Special CBI judge H S Khutwad had reserved the order on Friday after CBI produced Amin and sought his custody.
Amin had complained to the court he was abused and tortured by the probe team after his arrest following which the court sent him for medical check-up.
Ruturaj Nanavati, the advocate who represented Amin, said his medical report was normal.
CBI has argued that Amin was specifically involved in the kidnapping of 19-year-old Mumbai girl Ishrat Jahan and Javed alias Pranesh Pillai, along with two others who were killed in a police encounter on June 15,2004,on the outskirts of Ahmedabad.
