FEATURING HUNDREDS OF exhibitors and delegates from 26 countries, the Saurashtra Vepar Udyog Mahamandal (SVUM) 2016 International Trade Show will begin in the city Thursday, with a special focus on business and trade opportunities in Africa. Labour and Employment Minister Vijay Rupani will inaugurate the trade show and summit, organised by SVUM, on ring road in Mavadi area Thursday morning. SVUM is a city-based trade organisation representing trade and industry houses of Saurashtra and Kutch region.
“The objective of the trade show is to showcase strengths of Saurashtra and Kutch. The expo will provide manufacturers and traders of the region a platform to exhibit their products to a global audience,” SVUM president Parag Tejura said.
The expo and summit is supported by the Central and Gujarat governments, Europe-India SME Business Council, Gambia Chamber of Commerce and Industry, Indo-American Chamber of Commerce and Industry, Indo-Canadian Business Chamber, Agriculture Machinery Manufacturer Association of India, Indian Technical Textile Association and Moroccan Export Promotion Centre. UK is the associated country of the five-day expo that will run till February 11.
Tejura added that the expo will have a special focus on Africa. “Africa has a huge business potential and industry houses of Saurashtra should seize the opportunity. The entire world has an eye on Africa due to its potential. On the other hand, Africa is now tired of China. In such a scenario, Saurashtra has an edge,” the SVUM president said.
