In the Gujarat High Court: Govt objects to CBI investigation into Una flogging incident

The CID had filed the chargesheet in September, within two months of the assault by “gau rakshaks” on seven Dalits on July 11.

The Gujarat government on Wednesday objected to a plea in the High Court for a CBI investigation into the Una flogging incident, saying the CID (Crime) has already filed a chargesheet after a thorough probe. The CID had filed the chargesheet in September, within two months of the assault by “gau rakshaks” on seven Dalits on July 11. In its reply, the government also objected to the petitioner’s submission that the CID was not trustworthy as it allegedly botched up the probe into the 2012 Thangadh police firing, which had three Dalit lives.

The Gujarat High Court on Wednesday asked the state government if it can prohibit downloading pirated version of location based-augmented reality game Pokemon Go, since the game is yet be officialy launched in the country. The court was hearing a set of PILs seeking a ban on the game alleging that it poses threat to public safety and also hurts religious sentiments of certain communities by showing images of eggs at places of worship. The court has kept the matter for further hearing after two weeks.
