The Gujarat government on Wednesday objected to a plea in the High Court for a CBI investigation into the Una flogging incident, saying the CID (Crime) has already filed a chargesheet after a thorough probe. The CID had filed the chargesheet in September, within two months of the assault by “gau rakshaks” on seven Dalits on July 11. In its reply, the government also objected to the petitioner’s submission that the CID was not trustworthy as it allegedly botched up the probe into the 2012 Thangadh police firing, which had three Dalit lives.
