In 3 hours,Leuvas raise Rs 150 crore for temple

Leuva Patels raised a fund to the tune of Rs 150 crore during the foundation ceremoney of a temple of their deity Ma Khodal at Kagvad in Rajkot district on Saturday.

Leuva Patels raised a fund to the tune of Rs 150 crore during the foundation ceremoney of a temple of their deity Ma Khodal at Kagvad in Rajkot district on Saturday.

The highest amount of Rs 25 crore was donated by Surat Khodaldham Trust. The event was attended by nearly 20 lakh Leuva Patels from across the country and abroad. The Rs 150-crore fund was raised within three hours after first pledge was made.

While temple construction,which will take two years,is estimated at the cost of Rs 250 crore,donation will also be used for other activities including promotion of education and scientific agricultural methods among community members.

Vasant Gajjera,a Surat-based diamond trader who hails from Amreli,was highest individual donor. His pledge to donate over Rs 5 crore was just a beginning for the gathering and within three hours it ended at total figure of Rs 150 crore.

Balaji Developers,a Rajkot based builder’s group,pledged over Rs 2 crore emerged second highest donors followed by Ramesh Dhava and Jayanti Hirpara,who announced to donate over Rs 1 crore each.
