Two days after the Panej hooch tragedy claimed three lives,a circle police inspector,an assistant sub-inspector and a constable were suspended on Thursday.

“Police inspector V I Patel,ASI Phulabhai Rathva and constable Dinesh Bachu have been suspended for negligence in duty,” in-charge DSP of Vadodara S U Pandey said.

Meanwhile,the 20 others who had consumed the illicit liquor continued to be in critical condition on the third day. While 11 of them were on ventilators,the rest were in ICUs at SSG Hospital and Sterling Hospital here.

“They are facing respiratory problems but are responding to treatment. Some of them have survived multiple cardiac arrests,” Dr Rajiv Deveshwar,Superintendent of SSG Hospital,said.

District collector Vinod Rao has sought a report from Dabhoi sub-divisional magistrate M H Gohil. Vadodara Range IG J K Bhatt has also ordered a probe by DSP.

Three persons,including a woman,from Panej village of Sankheda taluka died after they consumed illicit liquor bought from local bootlegger Ram Tadvi on Tuesday. Tadvi has been arrested and booked for homicide.
