Hold polls to elect new GCMMF chairman within 4 weeks: HC

The Gujarat High Court ordered the district collector of Anand to hold election for the post of chairman of Gujarat Co-operative Milk Marketing Federation Limited within four weeks.

The Gujarat High Court on Friday ordered the district collector of Anand to hold election for the post of chairman of Gujarat Co-operative Milk Marketing Federation Limited (GCMMF) within four weeks.

The court was hearing a petition moved by Vadodara District Milk Producers Co-operative Union Limited.

According to details,term of the present GCMMF chairman Parthi Bhatol ended in June this year and since then,the elections were due. The petitioner had sought directions to hold the election at the earliest.

GCMMF chairman is elected by all the district milk producers’ unions in Gujarat. Bhatol has served two terms in the post considered to be a powerful one in the state politics.

GCMMF also markets the famous Amul brand.
