HC asks govt to curb illegal mining in Valaram-Ambaji sanctuary

After this direction,the court has kept further hearing after three weeks.

Acting on a public interest litigation (PIL),the Gujarat High Court Wednesday directed the state government to stop illegal mining activities in the Balaram-Ambaji Wildlife Sanctuary in Banaskantha district if there was any. After this direction,the court has kept further hearing after three weeks.

The PIL has been filed by one Aiyub Ghasura,a resident of Banaskantha district. Ghasura has contended that the Balaram-Ambaji Wildlife Sanctuary is the protected forest and mining activities are banned inside it.

However,he produced some photographs before the court showing illegal mining activities was on there.

A counsel appearing for the state government said the court has directed the state government to stop the illegal activity inside the forest if there was any. After such direction,the court has kept the matter for further hearing after three weeks.
