Gujarat: Youth held for ‘murder’ of a child

According to the police, when Raulji was playing near his house Thakor lured him to get crackers late Friday evening.

The Desar police on Sunday arrested a 20-year-old man for allegedly kidnapping and killing an eight-year-old boy from Chhalier village in Savli taluka of Vadodara district. Acting on the complaint of the victim’s uncle, the police tracked the call records and messages of the accused, Virendrasinh Thakor (20), a resident of the same village and arrested him. The deceased has been identified as Virbhadrasinh Raulji (8), a resident of Chhalier village in Savli taluka.

According to the police, when Raulji was playing near his house Thakor lured him to get crackers late Friday evening. After kidnapping Raulji, Thakor sent a message to Kuldeepsinh, Raulji’ uncle, demanding a ransom of Rs 10 lakh.

When Thakor did not receive any response from Kuldeepsinh, he sent a few more messages threatening to kill the boy if he was not paid Rs 5 lakh. “Meanwhile, he killed the Raulji and hid the body in a box at his residence,”police said.
