Gujarat: RBI allocates Rs 100 crore for milk producers, says Govt

RBI has done the allocation of Rs 100 crore, which is expected to arrive within a day, following a representation by Gujarat government in this regard, the release said.

To facilitate timely payment of money to people indulging in animal husbandry for milk production in Gujarat, the Reserve Bank of India (RBI) will allocate Rs 100 crore, said an official release from Gujarat government Sunday. RBI has done the allocation of Rs 100 crore, which is expected to arrive within a day, following a representation by Gujarat government in this regard, the release added.

The release said that this decision of RBI following the state government’s representation has been taken to ensure timely payment of dues to milk producers and their co-operatives in the wake of recent demonetisation of Rs 500 and Rs 1,000 denomination notes. It further added that state government is coordinating with the RBI in this regard and a mechanism has been set up to provide money to milk producers and their cooperatives through the District Central Cooperative Banks (DCCBs).
