Gujarat mid-term polls: Congress retains two seats in Karjan taluka

The Choranda taluka panchayat seat, which was vacated after Congress members resigned in June, saw party candidate Rehana Kadiwala win by 472 votes.

Congress retained two seats in Karjan taluka of Vadodara. The Choranda taluka panchayat seat, which was vacated after Congress members resigned in June, saw party candidate Rehana Kadiwala  win by 472 votes. Kadiwala defeated BJP candidate Mansuri Yusuf. Significant damage was caused to the votes by JD(U) which bagged 791 votes. The Congress got 1,676 votes while the BJP got 1204.

In the Valan district panchayat seat, which had fallen vacant after the death of Congress leader I U Patel in October this year, Patel’s son and Congress candidate Mubarak Patel won by 2,992 votes. Patel defeated Sharif Desai of the BJP. ENS
